Two Trains

Two of Perth’s finest musicians are joining forces to create an explosion of foot stomping song – fusing their huge "Capper" personalities and love for styles of Blues Americana, old timey gospel, folk, roots and jazz to bring audiences a unique, toe tapping sound that is accessible, fun and real.

Multi‐instrumentalist, David Capper is no stranger to Perth venues having been in demand as a drummer for many local bands, not to mention his own solo performances where he swaps his drumsticks for an acoustic guitar and stomp box.

He has appeared at Bridgetown Blues, The Fly By Night Club, The Perth Blues Club, The Fremantle Blues club, Mundaring Folk and Blues Club, Mojos, Clancy’s to name just a few. David’s flair and finger picking style recently attracted the attention of local luthier; Andrew Ellis, who featured David in one of his videos promoting his own, handcrafted guitars.

Brad Capper is the Harp in Harp Attack and the inspiration behind David’s musical journey into the Blues. A man of Spirit and Soul, Brad has moved through the Perth Blues scene for as long as there has been Blues, passing on the stoke for Harmonica through his Harp Attack tutorial classes and stellar live performances.

Combining the talents of these distinctive individuals is a musical event that both are excited about and one that is sure to leave audiences wanting more.

Empire Blues

Empire Blues is an established, dynamic Blues Power trio whose primary influences come from the British Blues invasion of the 1960s. Initially the band took its material from this period, but over time it has moved to performing more original material in the belief that for Blues music to evolve, you cant keep just repeating the past.

Formed in 2005, the band features prominent Western Australian Blues musicians: Andrew McIlroy (guitar/vocal), Alan Dawson (bass guitar/vocal) & Frank Shinall (drums). All three musicians have been stalwarts of the Perth music scene for many years and have performed regularly at the Perth Blues Club.

High‐energy blues is very much the staple of the band, which has a well‐earned reputation for lifting the roof off many a blues venue. The band also brings together more traditional elements to many of its songs through the use of Dobro‐slide guitar, fretless bass and brushes on the drums for an acoustic (not roots) blues feel. Together with great original tracks from their two full length CD releases, Empire Blues (self Titled) & Blue Diamonds, the band also covers material John Mayall Eric Clapton/Cream, The Rolling Stones, Robin Trower, The Animals and many other great British bands.
